Convention: PDP counters Atiku’s claim on exclusion, says he’s a delegate

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has refuted the claims made by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar that the state party chapter excluded his name from the list of delegates submitted to the national secretariat of the party for the forthcoming national convention.

The faction backed by PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, is currently antagonizing the state Governor, Murtala Nyako.

Atiku Abubakar had written to the national secretariat of the party about his exclusion from the list of delegates.

He also alleged that he was being sidelined in the scheme of things in the ruling party.

Reacting to the claims, secretary of the faction, Barrister Tahir Shehu in an interview with Daily Trust, said the state chapter was aware of Atiku’s immense contribution to the party and as such did not hesitate to forward his name.

“We submitted the name of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as one of the delegates from Adamawa State because we know he has been at the forefront of PDP since 1999, but we heard about his complaint to the national secretariat that his name is not on the list. We do not know what really happened and we are not in the position to find out whether the national leadership has responded or not since he did not write to us,” he said.

The scribe had charged all members to continue to work for the unity of the party.
