Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said he is pleased with John Mikel Obi, despite his current situation at Stamford Bridge.
The Super Eagles captain, has not played any game under the Italian tactician since he took over in the summer, due to injuries and competition for places.
Speaking ahead of Everton’s visit on Saturday, Conte insisted there was no issue with Mikel Obi.
“It’s normal in every squad, there are players that arrive at the end of their contract and then together with the club take a decision,” he told reporters.
“For me the most important thing is that Mikel is working very well now, because in the past he had some injuries. Now he is working very hard and I’m pleased with his work-rate.”
The 29-year-old is into his 11th season with Chelsea.
