Constituents withdraw recall petition against Kano lawmaker

Residents of the Bebeji Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly have withdrawn the petition they wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recall their representative, Abubakar Kuki.

The Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Adedeji Soyebi, said in a statement that the commission would no longer act on the petition since it had been withdrawn.

“Further to the press statement issued on Monday, 14th August, 2017 on the above, the petitioners through their representatives who presented the petition have written to the commission to withdraw same.

“Accordingly, the commission will take no further action on the matter, the petition having been withdrawn,” he said.

Soyebi had acknowledged that INEC had written to the constituents to acknowledge receipt of the petition and to notify Kuki of the petition against him.
