Confusion as PDP National Working Committee sacks Auditor

Bode Mustapha

Less than 24 hours after state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party boycotted a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, the National Working Committee on Friday announced the sack of Bode Mustapha as the National Auditor of the Party.

The removal of Mustapha who hails from the South West Zone of the party, has occurred in less than two months of the dismissal of Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the party’s National Secretary, ruled by a competent court.

Analysts see the new move as a strategy by the Jonathan/Tukur camp to cut down the influence of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo and other Governors.

A statement by PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, said his party was “obeying a court decision” by removing Mustapha.

The leadership of the party also announced the constitution of a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the South West Zone of the party.

The formation has ridiculed the position of former Ektit State Governor ,Segun Oni. By virtue of his office as National Vice Chairman (South West), he is saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the region .

Presently, half of the states in the region including Ekiti, Ogun and Ondo, have at least two factions claiming to be bona fide exco of the party.
