Leonardo Bonucci  was the villain, as Spain edged out Italy on penalties, in the second semi-finals of the Confederations Cup.

The tight encounter ended in a goalless draw after 120 minutes, with both sides hitting the post in extra-time.

Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Ramos, Mata, Busquets and Navas all tucked away their spot-kicks for Spain. Candreva, Aquilani, De Rossi, Giovinco, Pirlo and Montolivo all scored for the Azzurris, but Bonucci sent his effort high and wide.

The World champions will now face hosts Brazil, in what promises to be an epic final on Sunday.
