Confederations Cup: Keshi confident of positive result against Spain

Stephen Keshi remains upbeat about Nigeria’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup, as they prepare to face World champions Spain on sunday.

The Super Eagles have defeated Tahiti 6-1, but lost 2-1 to Uruguay – results that have left their qualification in the balance.

Keshi pointed out that his team was still taking shape, while others have been together for years.

“What you have to remember is that they’ve spent six years together, whereas we’ve only been working for a year-and-a-half. It all came down to a question of concentration. We switched off for the second goal and it cost us the game,” he said.

Irrespective of that, the former Mali handler was confident that his players will get a good result against Spain in their last group match.

He said: “Anything can happen against Spain. Everything is achievable; it depends on how much desire you have in you. How badly you want it and of course an element of luck needs to be on your side. I cannot question the boys’ level of commitment and their loyalty.”
