Paulinho was Brazil’s hero, as the host nation powered into the Confederations Cup final, thanks to his late header.
It was a keenly contested semi-final clash and Uruguay were in no mood to be cowered by their fellow South Americans or the vocal crowd.
Diego Forlan was given the chance to score from the penalty spot, but the former Atletico Madrid striker’s effort was palmed aside by Julio Cesar. Both sides continued to press for the opener and it was Fred who put his side ahead, tapping in Neymar’s flick.
Three minutes after the restart, Edinson Cavani took advantage of some sloppy defending to level scores.
The match become more feisty, as both sides went all out to get the winning goal. And it was Paulinho who towered above Uruguay’s defence, to send the entire stadium into a frenzy.
