When my brother drew my attention to this article, the first thing that came to my mind was wao this looks like a Femi Fani-Kayode’s kind of management. And guess what, I was right, the malevolent article indeed emanated from Femi Fani-Kayode.
As a person, since I realised that Femi may be having some psychological problems, I decided not take him seriously and respond to his comments on any platform again. But, after reading through this evil motivated article which I think may affect negatively the emotions of some gullible ones, I have decided to write this rejoinder. Hide quoted text
After a thorough research about Femi Fani-kayode, I have come to realize that he enjoys and survives on falsehood. During the time of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he was regarded as the attack dog of that administration; he abused people at will; his name calling and open denigration of Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and anyone not on the same page with Obasanjo then earned him a ministerial position.
I’m going down memory lane to at least make people understand the person of Fani Kayode. In July 2013, when he was still a believer of the newly formed APC party, he attacked Jonathan from all dimensions to the extent of calling him the worst and the most corrupt President to be elected in Nigeria (Femi Fani Kayode on YouTube). His malevolent and malicious stand against anybody rooting for Jonathan then made him to undertake a vicious attack on Igbo ethnic groups during the deportation of some destitutes from Lagos to Anambara State and the subsequent apology tendered by the then Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola. In his reaction, Fani Kayode said, “If I were Governor of Lagos state I would never have apologised for the execution of a legitimate and lawful exercise which was absolutely necessary and which was done in the interests of my state and my people, no matter how many cows I had been offered or given by the kinsmen of those affected”.
Furthermore, Femi Fani Kayode continued his vicious and garrulous attack on Jonathan, until he got what he wanted, the Former President could not bear it any longer, he then brought him into his government.
Now, let me address the issues he raised in this present article.
With the reality staring at his face that the present government is not ready to succumb to his cheap blackmail, he is now taking a dangerous dimension of using religion.
The first allegation he made according to him was that one Sheik Abubakar Gero Argungu preaches against Christianity and that the present government did not do anything about it. As an individual from the North Central where he (Fani Kayode) regards as middle belt for his selfish and evil mind, I’m disturbed and regard it as hypocritical hearing from the same Femi Fani Kayode who openly criticised Buhari led government over conflict that ensued between the Nigerian Army and the members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria in Zaria, Kaduna State and the continued detention of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim Elzakzaky. Is it that Fani Kayode has forgotten that Elzakzaky is a Muslim?
As for the farmers herders crisis, we are all aware that the killing predates the present government and the government has taken so many measures to find lasting peace between farmers and herders. Fani Kayode in his usual belligerent manner has forgotten that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who is now his target, led the committee set up by the National Economic Council to find lasting solutions to killings by herdsmen across the country. The committee as we are aware, recommended increased military presence in Benue and other states affected by the attacks. In the same light, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Office of the Vice President Laolu Akande, recently released steps taken so far by the Federal Government to bring peace to the troubled states, and the move is already yielding results with the arrest of some armed herdsmen and even some being killed by the military.
When a former Minister who is supposed to be a statesman in his own right decides to chase rats, it is most unfortunate.
I am not ready to join issues with FFK using religion as a base for an argument with a man who seems to have lost the essence of humanity. But, my question again to him over his misleading comment that the states affected by Herdsmen killing are Christians, I don’t know how in his usual unsubstantiated manners, he came up with that, but, most importantly is that nobody can use religion to cause disaffection among us that are Indigenes of North Central again. Who doesn’t know that killing is beyond religion.
On the issues of restructuring, it is obvious Femi Fani Kayode thinks he can take Nigerians for granted. We all know the Vice President’s position about restructuring. Just recently, he made the presentation at a National Security Summit organized by the National Assembly in Abuja advocating for State policing. This is verifiable.
On the issue of militancy and insecurity in the South/South and South East, Femi Fani Kayode will definitely be on the wrong side of history for his malicious intent against the Vice President. It is on the record that Professor Yemi Osinbajo used all the available means to quell the crisis in those two regions. It is very fresh in our memories how the Vice President toured the Niger Delta Militants and their leaders in search of peace when the President was in UK receiving treatment. As for the South East and IPOB, we knew steps were taken for peaceful resolution but, it did not work, until the military were drafted to restore normalcy in that region. But, what even baffles me here is the hypocrisy of Femi Fani Kayode, the same man who in 2013 reacted to some Igbo leaders and the South/Southerners in a very damning way. Here is the excerpt from his comments in 2013: “If anyone thinks that they can intimidate us into keeping quite when their leaders say such things, then they will have the biggest shocker of their lives. We shall not be silenced and they shall not pass. Lagos and the Yorubas generally have much stronger historical, cultural and trading ties with the Bini, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Isoko, Hausa-Fulani, Tapa, Nupe and Ijaw than they do with the Igbo”. Now he pretends to love these same people he lashed with his mouth then, think about it before you commit yourself to this fake man.
Another misleading information given by this unrepentant maligner called Femi Fani Kayode is his position that Buhari was imposed by northern Muslims. Even a wheelbarrow pusher in Ajegunle knows there is no way anyone could have won the elections without getting the needed 25% stipulated by the constitution in 25 States of the Federation. Fani Kayode has also forgotten in his slanderous article, that President Muhammadu won 5 out of 6 States in the South West and got 25% in one State each of the South East and South/South. Another reason I said too much intake of white powder substance may be irresponsible.
With regards to appointments, the Vice President was right to have said the fact. For those who may not be conversant with the interview, here are his responses when the question about nepotism came up, the Vice President said:”look at the cabinet, for example, from the point of view of religion, it has an equal number:18 Christians, 18 Muslims; but, we have the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as well as well as the Head of Service who are Christians.
So we have 20 Christians to 18 Muslims; that is the structure of the cabinet. So if you take that narrative you may argue that perhaps the Christian have the upper hand; that’s a possible narrative.
“Let us look a little deeper into that… The South East, for example, has five states. Four of the South East states have senior ministers; all of them, except one, who is Minister of State for Education. “In assigning particular portfolios he does (have a choice). In the north, seven northern states have no senior minister, including the President’s home state, Kastina.
“Now, there are those who will say, if you are nepotistic; it’s a narrative depending on how you want to run it”.
The above is an excerpt from the Vice President’s interview. One important take away from the interview was that I later did my own research and found out that truly, the CEOs of various agencies are mostly from the South.
Also very importantly, was the stand of the President to look at areas where such things are true. For example, given the example of security given by the interviwer, the President said he is going to take a look at it.
For posterity sake, where has the Vice President faltered? His responses above are verifiable and on records for anybody to read. You can also see why I said too much intake of white powder substance is affecting Femi Fani Kayode.
My last response has to do with the dangerous angle taken by this wayward man who calls himself Fani Kayode, is his encroachment into the danger zone of the security agencies. The worst step anybody can take is to make discouraging remarks on the Military personnel who are on the field to keep the country at peace. So for my friend Fani Kayode who I strongly believe is under psychological attack to say only the Christian Soldiers are in the North East to fight Boko Haram is abnormal. Let me take us back to the death of Col Abu Ali, a young man who was nicknamed as Sarki Yaki as a result of his tactics towards the liberation of so many Local Governments that were hitherto under the insurgents. The late officer until his death, was a Muslim from my State, Kogi State. In the same vein, I lost my friend who is also a Muslim from my village. So, it is disheartening to hear someone say irresponsible things like the above just for personal gains or what is known as stomach infrastructure in Nigeria now.
Finally, for anyone to think of dragging the Vice President’s hard earned reputation into the mud, will definitely be an exercise in futility.
The present Vice President, arguably has been the best, the most active and patriotic person to be in that exalted position.
Furthermore, Femi Fani Kayode should go and look for productive businesses and stop all this unnecessary indictment to cause distractions which will never work.
