Committee chairman says Jibrin breached House Rules in over 100 newspaper reports


The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Emmanuel Orker-jev has stated that he had over 100 newspaper reports where the former Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Hon. Abdulmunin Jibrin breached the Standing Rules of the House.

Orker-jev stated this on Friday before the Rep Ossai Nicholas Ossai-led Ethics and Privileges Committee, where video clips and newspaper reports were presented as evidence against the ousted Appropriations Committee chairman.

Reacting, Chairman of the committee, Ossai asked his Rules and Business counterpart to present all the papers and video clips to aid the committee properly investigate the matter.

Jibrin had accused the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara and other principal officers of padding the 2016 budget  to the tune of over N40bn.

The embattled lawmaker had vowed not to appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, explaining that he never denigrated the entire House as portrayed by those loyal to Dogara during Wednesday’s plenary.
