Hundreds of commercial motor-cyclists in Osun on Tuesday stormed Osogbo, the Osun State capital to protest what they termed continued extortion by Osun State traffic marshals.

The protest commenced from the popular Ayetoro junction and terminated at Olaiya junction area of the metropolis.

One of the protesters, Waliu Adetoro, who came from Ilobu, an adjoining town of Osogbo to join the protest, lamented the alleged extortion.

According to him, majority of the cyclists are unemployed graduates, adding that the marshals have been forcing them to pay exorbitantly for different kind of things, which add more to the frustrations of the cyclists.

He said a cyclist pays as much as five thousand naira, for helmet and uniform, including daily ticket of fifty naira.

Meanwhile, Mr Jimoh Afeez, another cyclist told DAILY POST that a traffic marshal, in the bid to forcefully collect money for daily ticket from a cyclist caused an accident in which the cyclist sustained some injuries.
