Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Senate, has described the action by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to shut down Emzor and two other pharmaceutical companies as an ‘overkill’.

DAILY POST recalls that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on Monday shut Peace Standard Pharmaceutical Limited, Bioraj Pharmaceutical Limited and Emzor Pharmaceuticals Ind. Ltd. after they were implicated in the codeine syrup crisis.

Reacting through his Twitter page on Tuesday, Sani condemned the action of NAFDAC, adding that such reputable companies must not be ruined.

He wrote, “The shutdown of Emzor and two other pharmaceutical companies by NAFDAC is an overkill.

“Issues of violations if actually true, can be penalized with proportionate sanctions.

“Such reputable companies doing legitimate business & employing thousands of Nigerians must not be ruined.”
