The Coalition For Democracy and Credible Election, CODECE, on Tuesday presented the outcome of its National Survey for the 2015 presidential election to the public.
The results showed that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, is in the lead.
The National Coordinator of the group, Mohammed Attah, who addressed newsmen in Abuja, said Jonathan was ahead of the All Progressives Congress candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, by 61.03 per cent on national average.
Attah said the survey took a team of research experts three months to conduct across the country, adding that it was thorough and neutral.
According to the outcome of the survey, the APC candidate, Buhari, got 37.63 per cent, while other political parties got 1.34 per cent.
According to zonal breakdown, PDP leading with a zonal average of 56.86 per cent, while APC got only 43.145 per cent mainly in the states of the North West – Jigawa state, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States.
The research equally showed PDP leading the APC in the South West.
PDP got 55.83 per cent, while the APC got only 44.17 per cent in the area, attributing the rise of the party in the zone to defection into PDP by some members of the leading opposition.
CODECE survey also showedd PDP leading in the South East, South-South and North Central.
Dr. Yemi Oke, a lecturer in the Lagos State University, in his presentation, said the zonal average for the North West shows Buhari recording 43.14 per cent while President Jonathan got 56.86 per cent.
However, the APC is clearly ahead in the North East, with zonal average of 51.67 per cent, while the PDP is 48.33 per cent.
CODECE described the survey as thorough and neutral, adding that the poll research result is not an election result but such could assist both political parties and the electorate to make an informed decision even the March 28 election day nears.
