CNPP, PDP, others mourn ex-Oyo Assembly Speaker, Michael Adeyemo

The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), Oyo State Chapter has described the death of Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly as a huge and monumental loss.

CNPP made this declaration in a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Yinka Olona, on Friday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Olona said, “The death of Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo saddens me. It is a huge loss to his family, people of Oyo State and the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The Chairman, who joined other sympathizers in mourning the death of Adeyemo, said his contributions to the state’s House of Assembly and Oyo state politics would never be forgotten.

“We in CNPP commiserate with the family of Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo, for this loss. We also mourn with Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, the people of Oyo state and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). May the soul of Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo, rest in peace,” he said.

The State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while reacting expressed shock over Adeyemo’s death.

PDP Chairman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Saturday through the Publicity Secretary of the party, Engineer Akeem Olatunji described Adeyemo’s death as a colossal loss to the legislative arm in the state.

The statement said “PDP, Oyo State chapter is shocked by the sudden death of the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Michael Adeyemo, who passed away early Friday morning.

“The State Chairman of PDP, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, described the death of Rt Hon Michael Adeyemo as a collosal loss to the legislative arms of Oyo State government and the entire state at large for the brilliant and orderly manners he managed the 32 members house of Assembly without rancour in the last 3 years despite the differences in the honorable members party affiliations.

“The Oyo State PDP hereby commiserate with the family of the deceased and the entire members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and prays for God’s protection over those left behind. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace”.

Oyo State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) while reacting in a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Niyi Alebiosu and Secretary, Adewale Tijani, said it was shocked at the sudden death of the late politician.

SWAN said, “Today is a sad for us as sports journalists in Oyo state, with the sudden death of our patron. Late Adeyemo was very accommodating and generous.

“He was a lover of sports and had sponsored many grassroot football competition”.

The Late Honorable Adeyemo became the Patron of Oyo SWAN last year at an elaborate ceremony at the Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba Ibadan.

Also, the Executive Council and members of the National Association of Public Affairs Analysts (NAPAA), Oyo state chapter also expressed deep shock over the sudden death of the ex-Speaker.

NAPAA in a release signed by Prince Seun Adelore and Comrade Jare Ajayi, President and Secretary-General, respectively, recalled that the late legislator was a ‘gentleman to the core”.

The association said “in addition to being a gentleman, Adeyemo was also a man of integrity and a team player. It is noteworthy that throughout his political and legal career, no known scandal was traced to him. This is exemplary, given the scandal-infested nature of Nigeria’s political space.”
