CNPP dares Jonathan: “Declare your assets like you revealed donations for PDP form”

Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for openly disclosing the donations he so far received for his re-election bid.

A statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu, CNPP commended his spirit of openness and doctrine of transparency.

It, however, urged the President to further his transparency by declaring his assets.

“For finding it prudent to openly declare his campaign donations, may we once more request President Jonathan to likewise openly declare his assets, as his predecessor, Umaru Musa Yaradua of blessed memory did.

“This, we reason, will forever put to rest the allegation of United States based online medium – Richestlifesytle.com that he is the sixth richest African Head of State, valued to be worth $100m.”

Most importantly, CNPP noted, such an open declaration will to a great extent erase the hunch in some quarters that President Jonathan doesn’t give a damn about corruption and that his regime is the most corrupt in the annals of Nigerian history.

“The doctrine of openness and transparency, we opine will be better served with open declaration of Mr President’s assets, than the declaration of paltry donations from favour bound individual and sundry groups”, it added.
