After the meeting which was held at Dennis Hotel in Abuja, the clubs dissolved the board of the NPL and appointed an interim committee, to oversee the league for two months.

The clubs claimed that the NPL board, has not been able to improve the quality of the game in the local league and called for them to be replaced by a more effective and competent board.

A press statement read: “We suffered untold hardship last season. And we don’t want that again and that is why we have decided to dissolve the board and set up an interim committee to run the affairs of the League until a new election is conducted.”

The new interim committee is made up of: Mike Idoko from Sunshine Stars, Alloy Chukwuemeka from ABS and Chindo Abubakar from Wikki Tourists, Kaduna United’s Sabo Babayaro, Promise Nwachukwu who represents Heartland and Ocean Boys’ Anthony Ogola.
