Following the continuous absence of Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State from the office, the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has expressed worries over his Complete absence and silence.

The CLO in a statement issued by its Executive Director, Ibuchukwu Ezike, in Lagos, yesterday said that the continuous absence of the Governor who is alleged to be away on medical grounds is becoming a major setback to the state.

The statement reads: ‘’The CLO is worried by the continued absence from office by the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime, since September 19, 2012. CLO gathered that the Governor had applied to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr. Eugene Odo, for a two-week leave but has not resumed since then.

’’The Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, was said to have been asked to act in the Governor’s absence in the said letter.”

It would be recalled that Chime left the country for over three months now and the state Assembly has refused to appoint the Deputy Governor as the Acting Governor in accordance with the stipulation of the 1999 Constitution.
