A 48-year-old cleric, Moshood Aremu and three others have been remanded in prison by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iragbiji for alleged kidnapping and beheading of a four-year-old boy, Teslim Bakare.
It was learnt that the accused allegedly lured their victim with a biscuit to where he was beheaded.
The accused persons were consequently arraigned before the Magistrate, Idowu Ajao, on Monday.
The other accused persons are: Taju Ganiyu aged 25; Wasiu Agboola, 31, and 60-year-old Ganiyu Abidoye.
While testifying in court, the prosecuting officer, Mr. Taiwo Adegoke, said the four accused persons committed the offence on October 9, 2015, in the Ageblekale area of Iragbiji in Osun State.
The charges read in part, “That you, on October 9, 2015, at about 6.17pm in the Agbelekale area of Iragbiji in the Iragbiji Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: kidnapping of one Bakare Teslim aged four years thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
“ That you did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit; murder one Bakare Teslim aged four and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
“That you did unlawfully and intentionally kill one Bakare Teslim aged four years by beheading him with a knife and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 col.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”
The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the charges proffered against them.
The Magistrate, Idowu Ajao consequently ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody till December 21 where the case will be up for mention.
