Cleric admonishes Muslims on evils of oppression

The Chief Imam of Area 10, Jumaat Mosque, Garki, Abuja, Malam Yahya Al-Yolawi, has admonished Muslims to shun oppression and cruelty towards fellow human beings.

Al-Yolawi gave the admonition during the Jumaat service in the mosque on Friday.

He described oppression as one of the greatest sins in the sight of Allah.

“Oppression in Arabic is Zuln, and it implies cruelty, injustice and wrongdoing, whereby a person either deprives others their rights or does not fulfill his obligations.

“It also refers to transgression, a violation of right and the truth.

“It has many forms and kinds, all of which are forbidden by Allah, and the Messenger,’’ he said.

The cleric said that oppression was divided into three parts, all of which are forbidden by Allah.

He enjoined Muslim faithful to shun all types of oppression in societies so that their prayers can be answered by Allah.

“The prayers of the oppressor is usually not answered while those of the oppressed do not go answered.

“I call on all Muslims to embrace humility and kindness and shun oppressive attitude so that Allah can continue to answer their prayers,’’ he said. NAN
