Clark congratulates Buhari on US trip, backs him to recover stolen money

Frontline Niger Delta leader and former Information Minister, Chief Edwin Clark, has backed President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade, especially in the recovery of about $150 billion oil money stocked away in foreign banks.

The elder statesman noted that corruption, which was eating deep into the nation’s system, had slowed down Nigeria’s progress over the years and the culprits if not severally dealt with, will sink the country.

Clark further urged the President to urgently appoint a successor to the former Chairman of the Amnesty programme to avoid imminent fallout of the scheme, which had kept the peace in the Niger Delta.

While congratulating Buhari on his successful trip to the United States and his safe arrival to the country, the Ijaw leader called on Nigerians to put the outcome of the 2015 general elections behind them and support the President in his fight against corruption.

In a letter to the President, Chief Clark who traced the origin and importance of the Amnesty Programme to the nation’s economy, lamented that the programme may collapse without strong leadership.
