City cut United’s lead to 12 points, after Aguero clinches derby winner

Sergio Aguero, who broke many Manchester United hearts last season with a last gasp strike that won City the League, struck 11 minutes from time at Old Trafford, as Manchester City claimed a 2-1 victory over their rivals.

City practically dominated from kick off, despite coming into the game 15 points behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, but it was in the second half that they superiority bore rewards. Samir Nasri jinked his way into the box and laid off the ball for James Milner to smash in with his left foot.

United equalised, after Robin van Persie’s free kick, went in via Vincent Kompany’s back.

However, it was Aguero who had the final say, recreating last season’s title clincher against QPR, with a similar run and finish.

The win meant the blue half of Manchester, have now won back-to-back at Old Trafford, for the first time in 41 years and ends United’s 18-game unbeaten run.
