The Kaduna State Police Command has banned fireworks, better known as knockouts (banger), during the festive period in Kaduna State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olufemi Adenaiyeke, made this known during the State Security Council meeting held in the state on Monday.

According to him, anyone caught throwing ‘knockout’ would be prosecuted.

Adenaiyeke while appealing to the general public to cooperate with security personnel at checkpoints during the festive period reminded motorcyclists, popularly known as okada not to violate the restriction order on the vehicle in Kaduna town and Zaria local government areas.

He added that movement order in Kaduna remains from 9p.m. to 6a.m. daily, while in Zaria it is 6p.m. and 6a.m.

The police urged residents of the state to inform security agents where and when necessary.
