As Nigerians mark this year’s Yuletide, the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF), has urged Christian faithfuls in the country to use the Christmas season to pray for peace and unity in the country.

The counsel was made in a Christmas message signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Danladi Ndayebo.

The statement which was released to journalists in Minna on Monday, said Governor Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who is also the Chairman of the forum, congratulated Christians on the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and also asked them to beseech God for an end to the security challenges facing the country.

Aliyu noted that “There is no better time to preach and internalize Jesus Christ’s mission on earth than at this period of increasing intolerance in the country.”

He said the country had witnessed “too many losses of lives of innocent people and property, a situation that does not augur well for the peace and progress of the country.”

The forum called on aggrieved individuals and groups to do away with violence and express their plight through the appropriate channels.
