As the yuletide season approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, over the weekend restated its resolve to improve on stakeholder’s cooperation and road user education.
Disclosing this during the flag- off of the 2015 annual ember month campaign in Zuba, the FRSC unit commander, Zuba Unit Command, Mr Muta’a Chorie stressed that this year’s campaign is aimed at ensuring smooth flow of traffic during the ember months, especially for mass movement during the Christmas celebration.
“As the popular adage says, “It is better to be late than never”, that is the reason everybody should respect the road safety rules; it is not for anybody but for yourself, the people you are carrying and other road users,” he said.
Mr Chorie said the theme of this year’s campaign is “Operation sanity, driving safely into 2016,”stressing on the need for all road users to always be careful on the road to avoid road traffic crashes.
Also speaking, Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Zuba branch, Mallam Isiyaka Abdullahi, assured the FRSC of their maximum cooperation as stipulated in their constitution.
“When I get back to my people, I will make sure that I inform them of the importance of driving safely always. If everyone is driving carefully on the road then accidents on the Nigerian road will be greatly minimized,” he noted.
