Christian Chukwu tips Flying Eagles to excel at World Cup

Former Super Eagles handler, Christian Chukwu, has said that the Flying Eagles have every chance of winning the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Manu Garba’s boys beat hosts Senegal 1-0, to lift their seventh African Youth Championship titled and will play Brazil, Hungary and Korea DPR at the World Youth Championship.

Chukwu stated that he was convinced by their displays in Senegal and that he has backed them to make the country proud later this year.

“With the quality of players that we have and their understanding, I don’t have any fears about any of our opponents,” he told Goal.

“I think we have a Flying Eagles that can emerge as the best team in the world.

“Going into the competition, I don’t want us to embark on late preparations. Our football authorities should ensure they are well equipped with top class friendly matches especially with Latin American and Arab teams.

“If these are done plus other necessary things, and putting into consideration the cohesion and technical ability of coach Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade, we will be able to withstand any team that come our way.

“Something he tells me that other teams will be very scared of us,” he concluded.

Nigeria’s first match at the tournament, is against Brazil at the Stadium Taranaki, New Plymouth on June 1, 2015.
