Chile have won the Copa America for the first time in their history, after overcoming Argentina 4-1 on penalties.
Gonzalo Higuain and Ever Banega missed from the spot, while Alexis Sanchez’s panenka ended a 99-year wait for the Copa America trophy.
The match ended goalless after 90 minutes and extra time, despite the hosts pressing and dominating the Argentines with their high octane style.
Before Saturday, Chile had only beaten Argentina only once in 38 competitive games.
It is only the second final Lionel Messi and co will lose within a year, after Mario Gotze’s extra-time goal won the World Cup for Germany in Brazil last year.
