As part of his activities to mark the 2018 children’s day celebration, President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Sunday, visited the Abagena Camp in Benue State where victims of herdsmen attacks are currently taking refuge.
Amongst the internally displaced persons at the camp, the Senate President spent time with the children, who are mostly orphaned and displaced by the attackers.
In a series of tweets on his @BukolaSaraki handle, Saraki stated that he decided to mark #ChildrensDay at the Abagena IDPs Camp in Benue with those who, due to no fault of theirs, found themselves at internally displaced on a day that is set aside for the nation to celebrate her greatest assets – the children.
The Senate President was accompanied by Senators Barnabas Gemade, George Akume, Fatima Raji Rasaki and Emmanuel Bwacha.
Received by Governor Samuel Ortom and other state officials, the Senate President also engaged in an assessment of the facilities at the camp.
