Alleged killer of eight year old Victory Chikamso in Eliozu, Obio Akpor Local government area of Rivers state, Ifeany Dike, Friday slumped during his arraignment before a High Court in Port Harcourt.
Ifeanyi Dike is standing trial with two other accomplices for the alleged murder of Chikamso last year.
He has been slammed with charges bothering on murder, while Ugochukwu Nwaniro is accused of accessory over his refusal to report to the police after allegedly receiving a text from Dike on the killing of Chikamso, while Sergeant John Bosco is accused of aiding the escape of Dike after his arrest at the State CID, Port Harcourt.
The three men pleaded not guilty to the charges read to them.
In the course of the arraignment, Ifeanyi Dike made a loud noise then started sweating profusely in court when his charge was being read to him.
The charge was read for the second and third time and by the fourth time, Dike had collapsed.
His Lawyer, Lezina Amegua later told the court that Ifeanyi Dike has been suffering from some kind of mental illness.
Meanwhile, State Counsel, Attorney General of Rivers state, Emma Aguma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria ,SAN said trial of the accused has commenced irrespective of what played out in court.
Reacting to the development, trial Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli said Ifeanyi Dike was merely acting drama. He then directed the prison officials to take him for a medical check up.
The matter was adjourned to January 16, 26 and 29th for definite hearing.
Ifeanyi Dike, a twenty three year old undergraduate student of the University of Port Harcourt allegedly killed his eight year old niece, Victory Chikamso and removed her vital body parts.
He was arrested by the Rivers state Police Command and later escaped from the premises of the State CID, Port Harcourt and then re-arrested days after in Jos, Plateau state.
