After news made the rounds that some military personnel believed to be fighting the Boko Haram insurgents in north eastern part of the country were crying out for hunger in Sambisa forest, the Nigerian Army has reportedly sent two cows to the troops to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, was said to have sent the cows across to the soldiers yesterday.

Some photographs shared online saw the soldiers cutting the cows and cooking Jollof rice.

Recall that the footage of the ‘troops dying of hunger’ which went viral on the social media showed some soldiers who reportedly fainted as a result of hunger.

The Army has since reacted to the video, saying it was put together by some mischievous elements aimed at tarnishing the image of the federal government.
