Prominent Gbaramatu leader, Chief (Lt.Col.) Satchie Etoromi today denied the rumor making the rounds that High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo and some other Gbaramatu youths might stage a reprisal attack on the Federal Government over the death of his father, Pa. Thomas Osen Ekpeupolo and others.
Chief Etoromi in chat with DAILY POST in Warri denied the rumor noting that, “It is a lie because Tompolo has not told me anything like that.”
Chief Etoromi who claimed not to have heard of the rumor stated that it is misleading and an attempt to cause problems for the Gbaramatu people just as he pointed out that Tompolo wants peace at all cost and that he will even help the Government in curbing the ongoing pipeline vandalism in the region.
Chief Etoromi who disclosed that the leaders of the Niger Delta people are in talks with the Federal Government also appealed to the youths to continue to maintain the existing peace.
He further called on the President Muhammadu Buahri-led Federal Government to dialogue with the people of the area with a view to bringing a lasting peace to the area.
According to Chief Etoromi, “The Niger Delta leaders are talking with the Federal Government and I pray the government will listen to us and dialogue to bring peace.”
