Chelsea vs Tottenham: Alonso’s brace hands Conte first win of new season

Marcos Alonso scored twice, as Chelsea picked up their first win of the new Premier League season, with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Blues began their campaign in the worst possible fashion last weekend, with a 3-2 home defeat to Burnley and manager Antonio Conte was desperate to get their title defence up and running against Spurs at Wembley.

Alonso opened scoring in the first half, curling a free-kick into the top corner, as Chelsea went into the break one goal up.

There was drama in the dying minutes of the game, as substitute Michy Batshuayi headed into his own net to make it 1-1.

However, Alonso popped up again on the left, to drill the ball past Hugo Lloris.
