Daniel Sturridge has revealed what he discussed with Chelsea’s assistant manager, Gianfranco Zola after scoring a late equaliser for Liverpool against the Blues on Saturday.
Liverpool were heading for their first Premier League defeat of the season after Eden Hazard’s first-half goal separated the sides at Stamford Bridge.
But, after coming from the bench, Sturridge, a former Chelsea star, fired a superb strike past Kepa Arrizabalaga to earn the visitors a point.
Sturridge was seen speaking to Zola after the 1-1 draw and was asked about the exchange in his post-match interview.
“I was just telling him I’m watching his videos, that’s how I’m learning,” Sturridge told Sky Sports.
“He was a great player… legend and I really am watching his videos so it’s great to have a chat with a guy like him.”
When asked about the goal and whether it was his best for Liverpool, 29-year-old Sturridge added, “It was a good goal, the boys worked tirelessly throughout the game and we were unlucky not to score in the first half.
“I’d like to think I’ve scored better goals but probably not. This one was a nice goal. It was all about getting the result.
“It’s a team game and I just give my best every minute I get. It’s important to keep pushing forward and have a positive outlook on how things are going.”
