Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has disclosed that the club have been trying for a number of years to make Chelsea’s Eden Hazard a Los Blancos player.
He also described the 28-year-old as one of the ‘best footballers’ in the world.
Perez stated this ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League final tie against Arsenal on Wednesday night in Baku.
Hazard is concluding plans to leave Stamford Bridge this summer amid interest from Real Madrid.
The Belgium national team captain joined the West London side in a £32 million deal from Lille in 2012.
Asked about Hazard, Perez said in an interview with Onda Cero’s El Transistor: “How are we supposed to talk to a club who are playing in a final?
“We’ve been trying for a number of years to make Hazard a Real Madrid player, but we haven’t achieved it yet.
“I’d really like Hazard to come to Real Madrid and really hope he does. He is one of the best footballers.”
