Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has said he was impressed with Alex Iwobi’s performance in Arsenal’s goalless draw with Chelsea on Sunday.
The Super Eagles forward replaced the injured Mesut Ozil and was in action for 80 minutes, before he was substituted for Mohamed Elneny.
Neville was satisfied with the 21-year-old’s performance in the midfield and tasked Alexis Sanchez and Ozil to learn from him and Danny Welbeck.
“Iwobi and Welbeck did what Ozil and Sanchez didn’t do at Liverpool,” Neville told SkySports.
“They attached themselves to the two central midfielders.
“When I saw Xhaka and Ramsey in this team today, I thought they would get bulldozed in midfield, however, Iwobi tucked in, making Chelsea go wide and Welbeck did the same on the other side.
“It’s not difficult and ultimately that video should go to Ozil and Sanchez because they do need to come back in, but if they are not going to do the job required, sit in the stands and let two players with less talent do the job you need to do in a big match.”
