Chelsea and Benfica booked their places in this season’s Europa League, with home victories in the second leg of their semi-final matches.
The Blues, who defeated FC Basle 2-1 last week, suffered a first half scare, after Mohamed Salah scored for the visitors, with the last kick of the opening period. However, they scored three goals, within nine minutes, to qualify for the final.
Fernando Torres and Victor Moses both scored with smart finishes, before David Luiz produced an absolute beauty to seal the win.
Benfica beat Fenerbahce 3-1 to book their spot in the Amsterdam final this month. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, they took the lead through Nicolas Gaitan, before Dirk Kuyt equalised from the spot.
Oscar Cardozo controlled a quick free-kick, before fizzing his shot past the goalkeeper and got the third goal in the second half, slamming a loose ball in the area.
