Chelsea are set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, after reaching an agreement to terminate Antonio Conte’s contract, by paying him and his staff £9.5million compensation.
Sarri is expected to be joined by former Blues striker, Gianfranco Zola, in a new-look management team.
Zola is currently working with SuperSport as a pundit for the 2018 World, but will cut short the gig to fly back to London on Wednesday.
Sarri is however still tied to Napoli, who want around £3.5m in compensation.
However, his lawyers are understood to have been trying to argue a constructive dismissal case, following Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as new Napoli boss.
Chelsea had also considered Laurent Blanc and Luis Enrique, but Sarri has always been Roman Abramovich’s preference.
