Chelsea must ‘be clever’ against Tottenham – Christensen

Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen says the Blues must fight and be “clever” if they want to beat rival Tottenham at Wembley this weekend.

The 21-year-old was handed his chance to impress Antonio Conte, albeit in difficult circumstances, on Saturday after the Italian was forced into an early change against Burnley following Gary Cahill’s red card at Stamford Bridge.

The Danish International is expected to play in the captain’s absence starting with an away trip to take on Spurs at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Christensen remains confident Conte’s side can pull off a result against Tottenham, despite the Blues suffering a 3-2 loss against Burnley in their opening match of the new campaign.

He told Chelsea’s official website, “On the pitch you don’t really think about it [Cahill’s red card]. You just get on with it and keep battling back, like we did in the second half.

“I think everyone knows what happened. We have to pick ourselves up and look forward to the next game,” He said.

“We could have taken something from this match. When we got the first goal, the belief grew and you could feel it in the stadium as well.

“The noise and everything just went to another level and we could have got something.”

“We have to fight the same way. Be clever, play our type of football again and I’m sure everybody is looking forward to Tottenham next week.”
