Chelsea have not given up on landing Romelu Lukaku and have matched Manchester United’s bid for the Everton striker.
According to the UK Telegraph, Antonio Conte is desperate to land the 24-year-old this summer and does not want his rival, Jose Mourinho, to deal a psychological blow ahead of the new season.
Lukaku had appeared on the verge of moving to Old Trafford after a £75million offer was accepted by the Toffees (http://dailypost.ng/2017/07/06/breaking-everton-accept-75-million-bid-manchester-united-lukaku/), but the Blues are pulled themselves back into the race to sign the player.
It is however understood that they stop short of equalling the sizeable agent’s fees United have offered to Lukaku’s agent, Mino Raiola.
The Premier League champions are yet to make a statement in the transfer market, after failing to land Alexis Sanchez and Virgil van Dijk. Deals for Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko have also not been sorted out yet.
