Chelsea close to appointing Sarri, Zola

Chelsea are set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.

According to ESPN, the Blues will also bring in club legend, Gianfranco Zola as his assistant coach.

Sarri has been Chelsea’s top target to replace Conte all summer and have now made progress in talks with Napoli over a compensation fee.

The Italian left Napoli last month, after guiding them to second in Serie A, four points behind winners Juventus.

He will replace his compatriot Antonio Conte, whose future at Stamford Bridge has been the subject of intense speculation for months.

Conte has one year to run on his contract at Chelsea and the club would have to pay him off if he is sacked.
