Chelsea appeal Courtois’ red card against Swansea

Chelsea have decided to appeal the red card goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois received, during their 2-2 draw against Swansea on Saturday.

The Belgian was sent off in the 52nd minute of the game, for denying Bafetimbi Gomis a goalscoring opportunity.

Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot and the Swans equalized.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho, refused to discuss Oliver’s decision after the game, but the club has now decided to contest it.

The appeal is expected to be heard by the Football Association on Tuesday.
