The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed they will hold talks with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs, to ensure players are released early ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
This comes as U-23 coach, Samson Siasia, is struggling to put together a squad for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal later this month.
The NFF is planning to meet with the clubs, to avoid a repeat of the same scenario before the CHAN tournament early next year.
“It’s important that we have a meeting with the club officials to facilitate the prompt and easy release of players when we commence preparations for the competition,” a source informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We would like to avoid a repeat of what we experienced with the U-23 side.
“The CHAN is a big competition and we will like to do better than we did the last time in South Africa.”
The 2016 CHAN will hold between January 16 and February 6 in three Rwandan cities of Kigali, Gisenyi and Bature.
The current NPFL season will end in November and likely resume in January for the new campaign.
