CHAN 2016: Chikatara set to start against Tunisia after bout of diarrhoea

Super Eagles striker, Chisom Chikatara, has recovered from diarrhoea which kept him down for the past two days and is set to feature in Friday’s African Nations Championship game against Tunisia.

The Abia Warriors player got off to a flying start in the tournament, scoring a hat-trick as Nigeria defeated Niger 4-1 on Monday, before he was struck down by the illness.

But he has now confirmed that he is well and in good shape for the crucial match against the North Africans.

“I’m in good shape now. The doctor has done a good job in helping me stop the diarrhoea,” he told CompleteSports.

“I have fully recovered from the diarrhoea and fully focused on our next game against Tunisia.”

A source close to the Eagles, also indicated that Chikatara, who came on the bench against Mena, might have done well to start against Tunisia.

“With his performance against Niger on Monday it is likely he will start the game against Tunisia,” the source said.

“It’s a big decision for the coach to take, we will have to wait until the eve of the game.”
