The Super Eagles have been pitted against South Africa, Mali and Mozambique in Group A of next year’s African Nations Championship.
In the draws conducted at CAF’s headquarters on Wednesday, the newcomers will face hosts South Africa, in what many observers have tagged one of the toughest groups.
Group B has Morocco, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Burkina and Ghana are in Group C alongside Gabon, Burundi and Mauritania.
Group A: South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria, Mali (host city: Cape Town)
Group B: Zimbabwe, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Morocco (host city: Cape Town)
Group C: Ghana, Libya, Ethiopia, Congo (host city: Mangung)
Group D: RD Congo, Gabon, Burundi, Mauritania (host city: Polokwane)
The Championship will hold from January 11 to February 1.
