Champions League: Why I took off Pogba after scoring 2 goals against Young Boys – Mourinho

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, revealed that he took Paul Pogba off during their 3-0 Champions League win over Young Boys Bern amid concerns over fatigue.

Pogba scored twice in the game, playing at the heart of United midfield.

The Portuguese gaffer was delighted with his ‘class’ display, praising the Frenchman for his stunning strike from distance to open the scoring.

However, the former Chelsea boss said he pulled off Pogba in order to keep him fresh for United’s weekend clash with Wolves.

“Good performance,” he said at a post match press conference.

“I felt he was a bit tired in the last part of the game, that’s why I took him off. Solid, class and gave the team the pace we need sometimes.

“He controlled the tempo and of course it was a very good goal.

“The penalty showed personality too as sometimes when you miss a penalty you have doubts to take the next one but none for him.”
