Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, has said he would not want to face Manchester United in the Champions League.

Valverde watched his team beat United 1-0 in the early hours of Thursday, with Neymar’s first-half goal proving decisive.

The Barca coach was impressed by what he saw from United, with Pogba and Marcus Rashford in particular causing problems for Barcelona’s defence.

“I am happy that we won against a powerful team such as Manchester United,” Valverde said.

“Obviously it hasn’t gone well lately (for United), but they won the Europa League.

“This year they are going to be in the Champions League and their presence by itself is impressive. I think they are going to be a really hard team to beat.

“For me, they are contenders to win and they are going to be hard to beat in the Premier League and the Champions League. I wouldn’t want to face them in the Champions League.”
