Champions League: what I told Neymar after the game – Dani Alves

Former Barcelona right-back, now with Juventus, Dani Alves has revealed what he told former teammate, Neymar as the Barcelona star could not control his tears after a goalless draw in the second leg of the Champions League quarter final at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Juventus dumped Barcelona out 3-0 on aggregate having bashed them in Turin last Tuesday.

The veteran right-back was a long-time colleague of the Barcelona striker and was on hand to comfort his countryman.

Alves, who gave his shoulders for Neymar to cry on after the match, explained to beIN Sports, “I told him that that’s life – we had to face each other.

“I did not want to measure myself just on this, we have experienced these moments together and now we experience them apart so it is hard.

“We have to focus on our jobs, but the feeling is there.”

The 33-year-old played for Barcelona for eight seasons between 2008 and 2016, making close to 400 appearances for the Camp Nou side, winning the Champions League on three occasions.

He left for Juventus on a free transfer last summer and has helped the Serie A leaders into the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Monaco after Friday’s draw.
