Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, has revealed what Frank Lampard’s men did to teammate, Ross Barkley after, the England international missed from the spot, in their 1-0 defeat to Valencia in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Given the chance to level the tie at Stamford Bridge, Barkley saw his effort come off the bar.
Before then, the former Everton man was caught on camera, telling team-mates Jorginho and Willian to back off.
But Abraham has now said that Lampard’s men comforted Barkley after his penalty miss against the La Liga side.
“We’ve all comforted him, even on the pitch after he missed,” Abraham told reporters after the game when asked how the squad had reacted to Barkley’s miss.
“It happens, and Ross is an experienced player, he’s scored so many penalties, he’s scored so many goals. So we just have to focus on Sunday and forget about it.”
Abraham added: “It’s a test of character. We can take our anger out against Liverpool.
“It’s a massive game and both teams will be going to win. We’ll look forward to putting [the Valencia defeat] right. “it’s still early doors. We’re fuming we lost today.”
