Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has hit back at Antoine Griezmann after the Atletico Madrid striker claimed he was on the same level with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Griezmann helped France to the World Cup trophy this summer even as he has also won the Europa League with Atletico.
Asked in a recent interview if he was at the top table with Messi and Ronaldo, Griezmann told AS, “Yes, I think I am now perceived in that light.
“There are lots of other players emerging and you have the likes of Neymar and Mbappe, but I am a different type of player and know I must continue to improve.”
But Ramos hit back at the Atletico forward before Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Roma on Wednesday evening.
“Ignorance is bliss, whenever I hear this kid speak I think of the likes of [Francesco] Totti, [Gianluigi] Buffon, Iker [Casillas], Raul, [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi and so on who have their homes full of trophies and don’t have a Ballon D’Or.
“He should pay attention to men like Cholo, Godin or Koke. I’ve always said he’s a good player,” Ramos was quoted by Metro UK as saying.
