Champions League: Scholes attacks Mourinho over Manchester United 2-1 loss to Sevilla

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has attacked Mourinho over the club’s surprise 2-1 loss to Sevilla in their Champions League last-16 second-leg clash at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

A second-half brace from substitute Wissam Ben Yedder was enough to see off the Red Devils.

Scholes says United lacked desire and energy and claimed it was a difficult match to watch.

He has also criticised United for their performance in the first leg, which ended 0-0.

He told BT Sport, “It was very difficult watching that, it was difficult watching the first game. There’s no desire, no energy.

“He likes to play on the counter attack and use his pace,” Scholes said of Mourinho.

“It was very difficult watching that, it was difficult watching the first game.

“There’s no desire, no energy, no speed about the team.

“I can’t explain it, it’s unexplainable. It will be interesting to hear what the manager says.

“You go back to the first game, the modern games now is teams go to places and try to score goals.

“United went there and didn’t even try to win the game or score a goal.”
