Champions League: Sadio Mane surpasses Gerrard’s record in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, on Wednesday night surpassed the Reds legend, Steven Gerrard’s goal record following his side’s Champions League 3-1 win over Bayern Munich.

A brace from Mane and a strike from Virgil van Dijk ensured Jurgen Klopp’s men dumped Bayern out from the Champions League.

However, Joel Matip did score an own goal in the first half at the Allianz Arena.

According to Opta Joe, Mane’s two goals against Bayern Munich means the Senegal international has now scored more away goals in Liverpool history in the Champions League with seven goals, while Gerrard has six goals.

Mane equaled Garrard’s record of six goals in the first half, before surpassing the record after scoring his second goal in the second half against to become the first ever player in Liverpool history to score seven away goals.

Liverpool will tackle Fulham on Sunday in the Premier League fixture.
