Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has blamed Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for Paris Saint Germain’s 3-2 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side beat PSG 3-2 at Anfield in their first Champions League game of the season.

The Reds raced into a 2-0 lead before half time but the visitors fought back to level at 2-2.

It was substitute Roberto Firmino’s stoppage time goal that secured a dramatic and deserved win for the hosts.

The former United defender was not impressed by the lack of defensive output from PSG forwards Neymar and Mbappe.

And he claimed the Ligue 1 side were not playing as a team.

“Unbelievable (game). We said before we expected goals, they didn’t disappoint,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“Liverpool were much what we expected, the energy, the intensity of which they played with, attacking at every moment.

“But these guys, the Paris Saint-Germain team, I’ll be honest with you I was very, very disappointed in them.

“As individuals, collectively, there was zero intensity. Complete opposite end to the scale from the Liverpool team.

“For me at times it looked like they were in a testimonial game the way they played.

“The forwards never looked like they wanted to defend, I don’t know if they’re not asked to or just don’t want to, and they got punished.

“When you come to Anfield, 11 players need to perform.

“Today, this Liverpool team outperformed and outworked this Paris Saint-Germain.

“They’re build as a superstar team, but they’re not – they’ve got superstar players, but I don’t see them as a team.”
